TNV6S216 overview

The TNV6S216 board is a TDM board, which can be used to transmit and receive STM-n (n=1, 4, 16, or 64) optical signals.

  • The TNV6S216 board converts the received STM-n optical signals into VC4, VC-4-Xc (X=4/16/64) signals and sends VC4, VC-4-Xc (X=4/16/64) signals to the cross-connect side.
  • The TNV6S216 board supports OTU1 services.

Basic function
  • Receives/Transmits 16 x STM-1/STM-4/STM-16 optical signals.

  • When the board receives STM-16/STM-64 services, every four ports on the board are divided into a group for transmitting services. The groups are as follows: TX1/RX1-TX4/RX4, TX5/RX5-TX8/RX8, TX9/RX9-TX12/RX12 and TX13/RX13-TX16/RX16:
    • The SDH capacity supported by each group of ports is 10 Gbit/s.
    • STM-64 services can be transmitted only through TX1/RX1, TX5/RX5, TX9/RX9, and TX13/RX13.
  • There is no group restriction on the STM-1/STM-4 service access. The maximum SDH service access capacity of the board must not exceed 40 Gbit/s.

Overhead processing
  • Supports the OTN frame format and overhead processing defined by ITU-T G.709. The mapping process complies with ITU-T G.7041 and ITU-T G.709.
  • OTU1 layer: supports SM overhead processing.
  • ODU1 layer: supports PM and TCM overhead processing, and non-intrusive monitoring of PM and TCM overheads.
  • Processes the section overheads of the STM-n (n=1, 4, 16, 64) signals.
  • Supports the transparent transmission and termination of the path overheads.
  • Supports the setting and query of the J0, J1, and C2 bytes.
  • Supports ECC communication.
  • Supports DCC transparent transmission for a maximum of any sixteen ports. The bytes that are transparently transmitted are D1–D3 and D4–D12.


Deleting the logical port that accesses STM-n (n = 1, 4, 16, 64) services will interrupt DCN communication at this port.
