TNV4S216 overview

The S216 board is a TDM board. The S216 board can be used on the 9800 equipment to transmit and receive STM-n (n=1, 4, 16, or 64) optical signals.

  • The S216 board converts the received STM-n optical signals into VC4, VC-4-Xc (X=4/16/64) signals and sends VC4, VC-4-Xc (X=4/16/64) signals to the cross-connect side.
  • The S216 board supports OTU1 services.

NOTE:

  • Ports on a TNV4S216 board are classified into two groups: TX1/RX1 to TX8/RX8 and TX9/RX9 to TX16/RX16. The maximum SDH capacity of each group of ports is 40 Gbit/s.
  • If both STM-16 and STM-64 services are received, each port group supports a maximum of two STM-64 services. In this case, the maximum SDH capacity of each port group is 35 Gbit/s (2 x 10Gbit/s + 6 x 2.5 Gbit/s).
  • There is no limit on the numbers of STM-16 services and STM-1/STM-4 services that can be received or transmitted concurrently.
  • There is no limit on the numbers of STM-64 services and STM-1/STM-4 services that can be received or transmitted concurrently.

Overhead processing
  • OTU1 layer: supports SM overhead processing.
  • ODU1 layer: supports PM and TCM overhead processing, and non-intrusive monitoring of PM and TCM overheads.
  • Processes the section overheads of STM-64/STM-16/STM-4/STM-1 signals.
  • Supports the transparent transmission and termination of the path overheads.
  • Sets and queries J0, J1, and C2 bytes.
  • Supports ECC communication.
  • Supports DCC transparent transmission for a maximum of any sixteen ports. The bytes that are transparently transmitted are D1–D3 and D4–D12.

NOTE:

Deleting the logical port that accesses STM-n (n = 1, 4, 16, 64) services will interrupt DCN communication at this port.
