How to check if the PoE power supply is abnomal in PWR switches?
1. Checking Whether the Switch Supports the PoE Function
Procedure
Only the switches that have PWR in produce names support the PoE function. To check the switch models, run the display device command.

2. Checking Whether the Basic PoE Configuration Is Correct
Procedure
The PoE function is enabled on a switch by default. When PoE power supply fails on the switch, the PoE function may have been disabled and needs to be enabled on ports of the switch.
For example, if GE0/0/1 cannot provide PoE power to its connected PD, check whether the PoE function has been disabled on GE0/0/1.

If the PoE function has been disabled, enable it on GE0/0/1 so that GE0/0/1 can provide power to its connected PD.
For example, enable the PoE function on GE0/0/1 using the following command:

3. Checking Whether PoE Power Supply Information Is Correct
Procedure
PoE switches can provide power to PDs only when they have PoE power modules installed.
For xample, you can check PoE power supply information on a switch using the display poe-power command. If the Total Available PoE Power field displays a value, PoE power modules are installed. If this field displays Error, non-PoE power modules are installed or PoE power modules are faulty.

4. Checking Whether the PoE Card or DIMM Status Is Normal
Procedure
If PoE power modules are working normally, check whether the PoE card and DIMM are working normally. PoE switches can provide normally when the PoE card and DIMM are working normally.
For example, you can check the PoE card and DIMM status using the display poe chips command. If the register displays fail or error, the PoE card is faulty. To rectify the fault, seek technical support.

5. Checking Whether the PoE Power Supply Status Is Normal
Procedure
After the PoE function is enabled on an interface for about 1 minute, check the PoE power supply status of this interface. If this interface is providing PoE power, you can view the output power of the interface.
For example, you can run the display poe power command to check the output power. The command output shows that the output power of GE0/0/2 is 3710 mW.

NOTE:
When a switch needs to provide PoE power, the 8-core network cables must be used. It provides power through 10BASE-T, 100BASE-TX, or 1000BASE-T Ethernet. The reliable powering distance is 100 meters. Check whether the network cable meets requirements.
6. Checking Whether Non-Standard PDs Are Connected
Procedure
PoE switches provide power only to standard PDs. If the switches cannot provide power, connected PDs may do not comply with 802.3 standards. To check whether PDs are non-standard, enable the non-standard PD detection function.
For example, if GE0/0/1 cannot provide power to its connected PD, run the poe legacy enable command to enable non-standard PD detection and then run the display this command to check whether this function has been configured successfully.

7. Checking Whether Power-on and Power-off Information Is Displayed Frequently
Procedure
Check whether PoE ports are frequently powered on and off.
For example, you can run the display trapbuffer command to check whether powered on and powered off information is frequently displayed.

If PoE ports are frequently powered on and off, power supply may be unstable. You need to run the poe af-inrush enable command and then run the display poe information command to check whether the poe af-inrush enable command configuration is successful.
CAUTION:
Confirm your action before using the poe af-inrush enable command because this command may result in device component damage.

If PoE power supply still fails, attempt to enable forcible PoE power supply using the poe force-power command.
CAUTION:
Confirm your action before using the PoE force-power command because it may result in device component damage.
For example, you can configure the forcible PoE power supply on GigabitEthernet0/0/1 and then run the display this command to check whether the configuration is successful.

8. Checking Whether Some Functions of PDs Are Unavailable
Procedure
Enable LLDP 802.3at compatibility if PDs have been powered on but some functions of these PDs are unavailable. For example, the switch has powered on cameras but the heating function of cameras is unavailable; the switch has powered on IP phones, but the extended keypad of IP phones is unavailable.
For example, you can enable LLDP and then LLDP 802.3at compatibility on PoE ports. To check whether the configurations are successful, run the display this command.

9. Collecting Information and Seeking Technical Support
If the fault persists, collect related information and seek technical support.
Procedure
- Collecting Fault Information
- Replace the PD that cannot be powered on and replace the port that cannot provide power to its PD and then check register information and PoE information of the problematic port ten consecutive times using the display poe chips, display poe-power, display poe information, or display poe power
- Collect operation results of the preceding steps and record the results in a file.
- Collect all diagnostic information and export the information to a file.
- Run the display diagnostic-information file-name command in the user view to collect diagnostic information and save the information to a file.

2.When the diagnostic file is generated, you can export the file from the device using FTP, SFTP, or SCP.
NOTICE:
You can run the dir command in the user view to check whether the file is generated.
You can also run the display diagnostic-information command and save terminal logs in a diagnostic file on a disk. For details, see Diagnostic File Obtaining Guide.
If this command displays a long output, press Ctrl+C to abort this command.
This command displays diagnostic information, which helps locate faults but may affect system performance. For example, CPU usage may become high. Therefore, do not use this command when the system is running properly.
Running the display diagnostic-information command simultaneously on multiple terminals connected to the device is prohibited. This is because CPU usage of the device may obviously increase and the device performance may be degraded.
- Collect the log and trap information on the device and export the information to files.
- Run the save logfile all command in the user view to save the logs in the user log buffer area and diagnostic log buffer area to the user log file and diagnostic log file, respectively.

- When the diagnostic file is generated, you can export the file from the device using FTP, SFTP, or SCP. For details, see Huawei’s official File Management.

You can also run the display log buffer and display trap buffer commands to view the log and trap information on the device and save the information in diagnostic files on a disk. For details, see Diagnostic File Obtaining Guide.
