TN52DAPXF Overview

TN52DAPXF extended C-band optical amplifier board with 2 pluggable ports (XFIU embedded) applied to OptiX OSN 8800.

The OptiX OSN 8800 Intelligent Optical Transport Platform (OptiX OSN 8800 for short) is a new generation of intelligent MS-OTN product. The OptiX OSN 8800 can interconnect with any product from the OptiX OSN product series, such as the OptiX OSN 1800, to form an end-to-end OTN network. The OptiX OSN 8800 T32/T16 supports unified switching and control based on ODUk, VC, and packets, achieving unified switching and transmission for multiple services on a single multi-service optical transport network (MS-OTN). The OptiX OSN 6800 Intelligent Optical Transport Platform (OptiX OSN 6800 for short) is referred to as Huawei next generation intelligent optical transport platform. The OptiX OSN 6800 is for area backbones, local networks, metropolitan convergence layers and metropolitan core layers. It may also work with other WDM, SDH/SONET equipment to offer a complete Metro WDM solution.

Basic functions
  • Amplifies the power of the received optical signals in the extended C-band. This board supports wavelengths within the range of 1528.8 nm to 1567.6 nm.

Gain adjustment TN52OACE101/TN52OACE101C: Continually adjusts the gain from 20 dB to 31 dB based on the input signal power TN52OACE105/TN52OACE105C: Continually adjusts the gain from 23 dB to 32 dB based on the input signal power TN51OACE106/TN52OACE106/TN52OACE106C: Continually adjusts the gain from 13 dB to 23 dB based on the input signal power. In-service optical performance monitoring Each optical amplifier unit provides an in-service monitoring port. This port connects to an optical spectrum analyzer or spectrum analyzer unit to monitor the signal power performance without affecting traffic.
Gain locking The EDFA has the gain locking function. When this function is enabled, adding or dropping one or more channels or signal power fluctuation inside some channels does not affect the signal gain of other channels.
Working mode Supports the gain locking, power locking and APC modes.
  • In the gain locking mode, the gain of the board is tunable and the user can query the actual gain of the board. The gain locking mode is enabled by default.
  • The power locking mode is used to lock the output power of the board in scenarios in which only dummy lights are present.
  • Automatic Power Control (APC) is one type of power locking modes. Compared with traditional power locking, APC gradually increases optical power and has no light output if no light input is present.
Transient state control The EDFA inside the board has the transient state control function. When channels are added or dropped, the board can suppress the power fluctuation inside the signal channels to support smooth upgrades and expansions.
Alarms and performance events monitoring
  • Detects and reports optical power levels.
  • Monitors the temperature of the pump laser.
  • Detects the drive current, back facet current, pump cooling current, and temperature of the pump laser and the ambient temperature of the board.
