Online ONTs on the MA5800 Cannot Learn MAC Addresses

Today I’d like to share a case with you about the issue that online ONTs on the MA5800 cannot learn MAC addresses.
Product model: SmartAX MA5800-X2-AC.
Issue description
Online ONTs on the MA5800 cannot learn MAC addresses.
Issue analysis
According to the information provided by the user, it is confirmed that the ONU is of the micro SFP type S800. You are advised to perform the following operations to rectify the fault:
1. run the display ont-learned-mac 0/2/1 8 command to query the MAC address learned by the ONT, here we list HG8245Q2 and HG8310M R15 B+ as examples.
2. run the below command to check whether the related alarms are generated on the ONT:
display alarm active alarm parameter 0/1/2 8
display alarm history alarm parameter 0/1/2 8
display event history event parameter 0/1/2 8
3. run the following command to collect the line quality statistics:
interface gpon 0/2
reset statistics ont-line-quality 1 8
display statistics ont-line-quality 1 8 // query multiple times
According to the preceding command output, it is found that multiple historical LOSi alarms are generated on the ONU and the line quality FEC codeword increases.
Root cause
It is confirmed that the fault is caused by poor line quality and the ONU SFP fault.
Solution description
After the AP is restarted, the device can learn the MAC address, but the user is advised to troubleshoot the fiber and SFP.
